Deborah A. Pasko, Pharm.D., M.H.A., is the Sr. Director of Medication Safety and Quality at ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists). With more than 22 years of pharmacy practice experience, Dr. Pasko leads ASHP’s efforts to improve medication safety and reduce opioid misuse. Dr. Pasko’s role at ASHP includes working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the White House on national medication safety initiatives. She also serves as an advisor to the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), the Joint Commission (TJC), the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention (NCC-MERP) safety committee, and the National Quality Forum (NQF). Dr. Pasko earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Idaho State University College of Pharmacy. She has a Masters of Health Administration from the Walden University School of Health Sciences and completed a fellowship in Nephrology and Critical Care at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Dr. Pasko has received numerous awards including the Cheers Award for Medication Safety.

Dr. Kannan Ramar is a Professor of Medicine at the division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Center for Sleep Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. He is the Safety Officer for Mayo Clinic, Rochester. He also serves as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Learning Environment Optimization (CLEO) at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) and is the president for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Dr. Ramar served as the Education Chair for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine division and as the Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Disease Fellowship programs at Rochester, MN. Dr. Ramar has served as quality chair for the Medical Intensive Care Unit between 2010 and 2013, and as the quality chair for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine between 2013 and 2014. He was the Mayo Quality Fellows Program chair between 2015 and 2019, and serves on the Graduate Medical Education Committee, Mayo Clinic Quality Academy Education Committee and serves for the Mayo Clinic Proceedings Editorial Board as the Pulmonary Medicine section editor. He currently serves as a board member on AASM, AASM Foundation, American Board of Sleep Medicine, and recently on the Minnesota Alliance for Patient Safety.

Meshell Johnson, MD, is a professor of medicine at UCSF, and her clinical home is the San Francisco VA, where she attends mostly in the ICU, teaching and leading multidisciplinary teams in the care of critically ill veterans. Dr. Johnson has a lab that studies the alveolar epithelium in lung injury, focusing on alveolar type I cells. She is also the Associate Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Medicine, a member of the Latinx Center of Excellence, and a Faculty Equity Advisor for the School of Medicine, positions which reflect her passion for and commitment to social justice and inclusive excellence at UCSF and beyond.

Dr. Sujatha Kannan is an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in pediatric critical care. In addition to her role at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Kannan is also a research scientist at the Hugo Moser Researcher Institute at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Dr. Kannan completed her medical training at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry, India. She conducted residencies in pediatrics at the University Illinois at Chicago and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Additionally, she completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Kannan joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2011. Her research focuses on imaging and targeted therapy for perinatal brain injury using nanotechnology, with a special emphasis on cerebral palsy and autism. Dr. Kannan is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has published extensively and has won several awards for her research. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care.

, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. He treats and cares for people in the emergency department and urgent care, including those with life-threatening or critical conditions. This care may include evaluation, resuscitation, stabilization and referring patients to appropriate specialty departments.
Tolia is medical director of the Emergency Department at UC San Diego Health, where he oversees operations of both emergency departments at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest and Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla. He serves as director of the Emergency Department's Observation Unit and the Gary and Mary West Senior Emergency Care Unit (housed within the La Jolla Emergency Department), which is a state-of-the-art unit designed to enhance the care for older adults and meet the unique needs of seniors.
Tolia is also a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His research interests include patient safety, observation medicine and chest pain protocols.

, is a board-certified vascular neurologist. His expertise includes caring for patients with stroke, cerebrovascular diseases, and those who require neurological critical care. Hemmen directs the Comprehensive Stroke Center at UC San Diego Health and was instrumental in establishing the center as the first certified Stroke Center of Excellence in San Diego County.
As a professor at the University of California School of Medicine Department of Neurosciences, Hemmen directs the Stroke Fellowship Program and provides leadership and education to medical students, residents and fellows.
Hemmen is the lead investigator for numerous clinical trials in cerebrovascular disease. He investigates the use of neuroprotection and reperfusion therapies after acute ischemic stroke, as well as stroke prevention, recovery and research in intracerebral hemorrhage. He also leads the cerebrovascular research and trial coordination center that conducts national and international collaborative trials and researches new cures in all areas of cerebrovascular medicine.

Dr. Dayna Scott Vidal is a nationally recognized healthcare executive and subject matter expert in nursing leadership, clinical quality, and patient care transformation. With more than a decade of progressive leadership experience,she brings deep expertise in the full continuum of patient care—spanning inpatient, critical care, ambulatory, emergency, and trauma services. Her careerreflects a consistent commitment to driving innovation, improving healthcareoutcomes, and advancing nursing practice across complex health systems.

Dr. Vidal currently serves as Vice President of Nursing Professional Developmentand Clinical Outcomes at Grady Health System, one of the largest safety-nethospitals in the United States. In this role, she leads strategic initiatives inprofessional development, clinical education, nursing quality, and systemwideperformance improvement. She provides oversight of ANCC accreditationprograms, quality-related clinical education, nurse residency models, and high-stakes reporting metrics such as CMS Star Ratings, HCAHPS, NDNQI, and Leapfrog scores.

She is nationally certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC), Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPD-BC), and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Dr. Vidal holds additional credentials in Lean Six Sigma and has led multiple high-impact change initiatives using DMAIC, PDSA, and evidence-based practice models including the Iowa EBP Model.

Throughout her leadership tenure, Dr. Vidal has led transformative programs that have improved key safety and quality metrics. She spearheaded a 92% first-year nurse retention rate through the redesign of the transition to practice program, led the design and launch of a Clinical Simulation Learning Center, and helped achieve significant reductions in hospital-acquired pressure injuries and patient falls across multiple facilities. Her innovative approach to data-driven education and quality has earned her system-wide recognition and multiple awards, including the Georgia Hospital Association Patient Safety Award and a Vizient Summit Poster Presentation Award.

Dr. Vidal has held a wide range of senior and executive roles across clinical quality, trauma programs, and performance transformation, with prior leadership at Northside Hospital System and Atlanta Medical Center. She has served as a strategic partner to medical, nursing, and pharmacy leaders, bridging interdisciplinary teams to foster high-reliability systems of care.
In addition to her operational and clinical accomplishments, Dr. Vidal is a sought- after speaker and advisor on nurse workforce development, health equity in quality improvement, simulation-based learning, and organizational leadership in healthcare. She has delivered keynote addresses, facilitated training for professional organizations, and participated in national conferences focused on safety and improvement science.

Dr. Vidal holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Augusta University, a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Western Governors University, and dual undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Business Administration. She continues to contribute to public service through board appointments and is deeply engaged in workforce pipeline initiatives and youth education in healthcare careers.
